VP, Group Property Lead (Underwriting) - NYC
Salary $150-$225K

Result and profit oriented manager to build US large commercial property business. Responsible for business development, underwriting management and supervision of the US large property underwriting team.

Essential Job Functions:

Business Planning

1. Responsible for developing the business plan for the division.

2. Responsible for the overall business development of the division including developing, implementing and monitoring an annual marketing program to ensuring that regular business development visits are made to key brokers and clients.

3. Key contributor to the achievement of business plan objectives and premium projections for the division.

Underwriting Management and Monitoring

4. Effective management and monitoring of all day to day underwriting activities undertaken by the division in accordance with the division’s agreed business plan.

5. Promotion and the development of the division and of the in-house group in order to introduce profitable business to the division and the Group to match agreed business plan requirements.

6. Conduct peer reviews and approve accounts as needed. Ensures that all documentation is complete on a timely and accurate basis to agreed standards.

7. Provide technical input and guidance to underwriting staff as needed.

8. Have a clear understanding of risk appetite in terms of the division’s business plan and in-house group’s overall risk appetite.

9. Place and bind facultative reinsurance as needed.

10. Responsible for addressing overdues, workflow and various budgeting and resourcing issues within the division as necessary.

11. Comply with all relevant rules and regulations with regard to:
-Money laundering
-Sanctions
-Financial crime
-Bribery and corruption

12. Recommend new procedures and programs where appropriate.

Relationships and Communication (Internal and External)

13. Establish, develop and maintain business relationships with the division’s intermediaries, agents, clients and other business partners in order to secure business opportunities and portfolios that will ensure superior underwriting results over the long term.

14. Effectively communicate with senior management on all issues both within and outside the division as needed.

15. Ensure that customers are treated appropriately at all times.

16. Interact and coordinate activities with other departments as necessary.

17. Furnish intelligence on large account market including competitor strengths and weaknesses to global colleagues.

18. Responsible for complying with proper internal controls as necessary to conduct job functions and/or carry out responsibilities and/or administrative activities at Company.

Other Functions:
1. Perform special projects and other duties as may be assigned.
2. Regular and reliable attendance.
3. Ability to lead, interact and communicate effectively with members of team on a daily basis.
4. Regular travel – both domestically and internationally – required for this position.
5. Ability to work in a global team and coordinate with colleagues in national and international regions as necessary.
6. Recognition from the broker and client community as an industry leader.

Qualifications For Position:
-Bachelors degree
-10-15 years of underwriting experience in property/property insurance underwriting with five or more years in large property accounts
-3 or more years in a supervisory role
-International experience preferred
-CPCU or related designation preferred
-Broker/agent licensing preferred
